Key Takeaways:

  • 30% Cost Reduction – Optimized cloud spending by shifting development to on-premises and leveraging Azure’s pricing.
  • Improved Resource Utilization – Eliminated waste by repurposing existing infrastructure for development workloads.
  • Seamless Integration – Azure’s native .NET and SQL Server support ensured a smooth transition.
  • Scalability & Reliability – Azure’s high availability features handled peak workloads efficiently.
  • Enhanced Developer Productivity – A streamlined CI/CD pipeline allowed developers to work without cloud dependency.

A long-time AWS customer faced rising cloud costs while running both development and production environments in the cloud. Their software stack was fully Microsoft-based (.NET and SQL Server), and they had underutilized on-premises servers from legacy projects. To reduce expenses without sacrificing performance, we implemented a hybrid cloud strategy—moving development workloads to their on-premises infrastructure while migrating production to Azure Cloud, which offered better cost-efficiency and seamless integration with their existing stack. This solution not only cut cloud expenses but also improved resource utilization and ensured smooth operations.

By leveraging Azure’s Hybrid Benefit, we minimized licensing costs and used Azure App Services and Azure SQL Database for optimal performance. A secure hybrid connection via Azure ExpressRoute enabled seamless integration between environments, while Azure Monitor and Log Analytics provided full visibility into the system. The result? A 30% cost reduction, improved scalability, and enhanced developer productivity through an optimized CI/CD pipeline. This success demonstrates how a tailored hybrid cloud strategy can balance cost, performance, and efficiency for businesses invested in Microsoft technologies.
